Americal Scientists develop first bio-electronic medicine
Americal Scientists have developed the first bioelectronic medicine -- an
implantable, biodegradable wireless device that speeds nerve regeneration and
improves the healing of a damaged nerve. Washington University Researchers developed a device that delivers regular pulses of
electricity to damaged peripheral nerves in rats after a surgical repair
process, accelerating the regrowth of nerves in their legs and enhancing the
ultimate recovery of muscle
50,000 nominations received for Padma Awards 2019
50,000 nominations received for Padma Awards 2019, Home Ministry said, the nomination received this year is 32 times higher compare to 2010. The nomination process for the awards was simplified and made online in 2016 to encourage citizens to participate in large numbers. The online nomination process for the Padma Awards -2019 started on 1st May this year and the last date for submission of nominations was 15th of last month.

Malaysia abolish
the death penalty. Minister Gobind Singh Deo said, the government decided to
scrap capital punishment following strong domestic opposition to the practice.
Malaysia's Lawyers for Liberty rights group said death penalty is barbarous,
and unimaginably cruel. It said once the death penalty is scrapped, Malaysia
will have the moral authority to fight for the lives of Malaysians facing death
sentences abroad.
Capital punishment in Malaysia is currently mandatory for
murder, kidnapping, possession of firearms and drug trafficking, among other
crimes.

Jubilee celebrations of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) started in
New Delhi. The Commission is completing 25 years of its existence. Prime
Minister Narendra Modi will address the Silver Jubilee Foundation Day and
launch the new version of the NHRC website. PM will issue a Postage Stamp and
Special Cover on the occasion.
The
Commission will organize a ‘Human Rights Mela’ and ‘Human Rights Street Theatre
Festival’ tomorrow. The cultural extravaganza, open for public, will be
inaugurated by NHRC Chairperson, Justice H.L. Dattu. NHRC will organize a Human
Rights Walk to generate awareness about various aspects of human rights. The
NHRC was set up on the 12th October, 1993 under the Protection of Human Rights
Act, passed by Parliament.
