President Ram Nath Kovind reached Hanoi the capital of  Vietnam, this afternoon as part of his two-nation visit. Chairman of President office Dao Viet Trung along with ambassadors of both countries received him at Hanoi Airport. 

49th India International Film Festival in panji

The 49th edition of the International Film Festival of India gala opening ceremony at the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium in Goa. The 9-day event will showcase 212 films from 68 countries. While The Aspern Papers is the opening film, Sealed Lips will be the closing movie.  Festival Director Chaitanya Prasad said that the opening film will set in motion a memorable cinematic journey for the next 8 days.
Indian Panorama, a sought after section of the IFFI, will showcase 26feature films and 21 non-feature films. Shaji Karun directed Malayalam movieOlu will open the feature film segment of the Indian panorama. Kharvas directed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale will be the Openingnon-feature film of Indian Panorama. World Panorama section will present 67movies including 15 OSCAR nominated films from different countries.

President  Kovind addresses Vietnam national Assembly house

President Ram Nath Kovind addressed the Vietnam national Assembly house on third and final day of his Vietnam tour, this morning. Full range of bilateral and multilateral cooperation was also discussed during the bilateral talks by presidents of both the countries. Several MoUs were also signed by both nations.
AIR correspondent reports that President Ram Nath Kovind is the first Indian President who addressed the national assembly of Vietnam today. While addressing the Assembly he said, India has created new dimension of development over the last few years. President also had bilateral talks with his Vietnamee counterpart Nguyen Phu Trong.

Maldives cabinet approves to rejoin Commonwealth

The Maldives cabinet has approved to rejoin the Commonwealth, two years after withdrawing from the 53-nation grouping. New President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih made the announcement yesterday, saying that the proposal will be sent to Parliament for ratification.The country left the Commonwealth during former President Abdulla Yameen’s administration in October 2016, amid mounting pressure over corruption and deteriorating human rights.

The new government under Mr Solih has begun to reset several decisions and policies of the previous administration. The two Supreme Court judges, who were imprisoned since imposition of emergency, have been shifted to house arrest and a committee has been formed to release political detainees.

India assured of four medals in Women's World Boxing Championships
Pugilists MC Marry Kom, Lovlina Borgohain, Sonia Chahal and Simranjit Kaur have entered the semifinals of the Women's World Boxing Championships in New Delhi, assuring India of four medals.
 In the quarterfinals today, Mary Kom defeated China's Wu Yu while Lovlina outclassed Kaye Scott of Australia. Sonia defeated Colombia's Yeni and Simranjit won against Amy Sara Broadhurst of Ireland.

upgraded versions of Airsewa 2.0 web portal, mobile

Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu on Monday launched an upgraded versions of Airsewa 2.0 web portal and mobile app to make air travel convenient and hassle-free. The digital platform, Airsewa 2.0 will address air passengers’ grievances including flight delays, the problem in a refund, long queues and complaints of lost baggage. The system will also give real-time information about the current status and schedule of the flights.

AirSewa 2.0:
The government has launched the upgraded version of AirSewa 2.0 web portal and mobile app. Major improvements include features such as secure sign-up and log-in with social media, chatbot for travellers support, improved grievance management including social media grievances, real-time flight status and details flight schedule.

Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), the New Delhi (India)-based independent research and advocacy think tank, has been named the recipient of the prestigious Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development for the year 2018.

The government has launched Ease of Doing Business Grand Challenge on resolving seven identified Ease of Doing Business problems with use of cutting edge technologies.The objective of this challenge is to tap potential of young Indians, startups and other private enterprises to provide solutions to complex problems using current technology.  Sentinelese
An American national was killed allegedly by the Sentinelese tribe in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands after he illegally entered the protected zone on November 16.The Sentinelese are a negrito tribe who live on the North Sentinel Island of the Andamans. The inhabitants are connected to the Jarawa on the basis of physical, as well as linguistic similarities. Their numbers are believed to be less than 150 and as low as 40.Based on carbon dating of kitchen middens by the Anthropological Survey of India, Sentinelese presence was confirmed in the islands to 2,000 years ago. Genome studies indicate that the Andaman tribes could have been on the islands even 30,000 years ago.
 Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB)
United Nation Environment has awarded Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB), Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India with Asia Environment Enforcement Awards, 2018 for excellent work done by the Bureau in combating transboundary environmental crime.WCCB has been conferred this award in Innovation category.
