National Register of Citizens (NRC) deadline
The Supreme Court on December 12, 2018 extended the deadline for the submission of claims and objections by individuals excluded from the first draft of the Assam National Register of Citizens (NRC) to December 31, 2018.The Assam government released the final draft of NRC on July 30, 2018. The list incorporates names of 2.89 crore people out of 3.29 crore applicants. The names of 40.07 lakh people have been left out.
 The National Register of Citizens (NRC) is a list that contains names of Indian citizens of Assam. It was last prepared after Census in 1951. Assam, which had faced an influx of people from Bangladesh since the early 20th century, is the only state having an NRC.The Assam government on July 30, 2018 released the second and final draft of the state’s National Register of Citizens (NRC). The draft includes the names of Indian citizens who have been residing in Assam before March 25, 1971.
 UK government suspend “golden visa
Context: The UK government has put on hold plans to suspend “golden visa” category in reference to its use by super-rich foreign nationals, including Indians, to acquire fast-track settlement rights in Britain.They provide a faster route for wealthy investors coming from outside the European Union and Switzerland to settle in Britain. The program was introduced in 2008 to attract wealthy foreign nationals willing to invest large amounts of capital in Britain.
 World’s first floating nuclear plant in Russia:
Akademik Lomonosov is the world’s first “floating” nuclear power plant (FNPP). It is coming up in Russia. An FNPP is basically a mobile, low-capacity reactor unit operable in remote areas isolated from the main power distribution system, or in places hard to access by land. They are designed to maintain both uninterruptible power and plentiful desalinated water supply in remote areas.

:Ahead of the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2019, preparations are in full swing at Science City in Ahmedabad to put on a display a mega-exhibition of Futuristic Technologies as well as an exhibition on Space.
Starting from the 17th of January, Science City in Ahmedabad will hold an exhibition on Futuristic technologies that have real world commercial applications.The exhibition will provide a glimpse of the advanced technologies that were once considered the stuff of science fiction, and the futuristic technologies demonstration will showcase the smartgadgets that control every facet of home, self-driving vehicles, facial and biometricidentification systems, precision robots and drones, giving everyone aglimpse of the high-tech reality were moving towards.These technologies will change the landscape of the world, as we know it today.
Some of the worlds most renowned tech companies such as Microsoft, IBM, Phillipsetc will put on display and demonstrate their research projects that they have been developing. Futuristic technologies that have applications in the healthcare sector, agriculture sector and well as urban mobility devices and lifestyle tech devices will be on display for the visitors to experience for themselves.
The exhibition will be an opportunity to engage, educate and experience the new age and future technologies such as, Microsoft Halo Lens, IBM Watson, Google Li-fi, Amazon Alexa, lifesaving U-Safe that can drive itself around in the water by remote control to save any life, Smart HomeAutomation, Mixed Reality/Augmented Reality, Robotic use cases for industrial and consumer applications, Holographic Technology, Companion robots, indigenous space suit and supercomputers and so on.
The Futuristic Technology exhibition will also showcase the advances technology has made in the agriculture sector.The concept of container farming,modular indoor farms, 100% Biodegradable substitute to Plastic, Advanced DrivingAssisted Solutions, Smart Factory concept by Panasonic, Hyperloop mobility, SmartAgriculture, Automation Technology, Li- Fi by Philips, AI-Health Care Solution, Drone(Surveillance and security) and many more products and technological platforms will be available at the Science City. Along with the Futuristic Tech devices, the Department of Science and Technology, Government of Gujarat is also putting on display an exhibition on Space. The exhibition will cover an area of more than 9000 sqft. With the theme of the Vibrant Gujarat summit being Shaping a New India the aim of the exhibition at Science City is to stimulate curiosity and innovation among young minds for the New India mission as laidout by the Honble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. In his Independence Day address to the nation in August earlier this year, Prime Minster Modi also set a challenge to the nation to complete a manned space before 2022, Indias 75th anniversary of independence.
The exhibition and the exposure would be a good opportunity for students to learn what iswithin our reach and what might come up on the horizon in the years to come.
The Beyond Planet Earth exhibition will be furnishedwith life-size and scale models of NASAs Curiosity Mars Rover, Vostok1, Sputnik1, Moonboots, a lunar elevator, an expandable Moon habitat and more.

The history and science of space exploration will be on view in this immersive exhibition that will feature more than 20 scientific objects, including a Russian space glove and lunar tire, life-size models, dioramas, and videos. Interactive displays will allow visitors to smell a scent station thatmimics what the Moon smells like, simulate a liquid mirror telescope, deflect asteroids in adigital kiosk, learn about terraforming, and even fly over Mars!.The Exhibition on Space Exploration will be inaugurated on the 17th of January and will be on display till the 11th of May, giving the science and technology enthusiasts an opportunity to witness the developments on the frontiers of the science and also to explore all the new development that is happening at the science city.
important announcements for better and effective sustainable and industrial development
Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupani
has urged the Pollution Control Board and GIDC to make the
process of obtaining various permissions completely online in order to ensure an effective, transparent and easy way for industrialists.

The CM said to move a step ahead and adopt ‘Feel of Doing Business’ for providing better facilities to industrialists. He further stressed on making the state Vibrant in terms of more investments, and more employment opportunities through an honest, transparent, and sensitive administrative which will ensure a red carpet for industries. Keeping this in mind, the CM made 12 important announcements.

The industrial units who wish to obtain Environmental clearance have been relived from the CTE process.

1)     The industrial units who wished to avail EC had to take 2 other approvals of NCOM from EC and GPCB which was cumbersome and time consuming.
2)     The state government shall provide the EC to industrial units in no more than 105 days.
3)     As many as 1,000 industries will benefit from this leading to employment generation for 10,000 people.
