10% quota for Unreserved Category of Economically Weaker Sectionsfor admission to higher education, Govt jobs
In an important decision for social equanimity, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today announced that the benefits of 10 per cent quota for Unreserved Categories of Economically Weaker Class for education to higher education and government jobs will be applicableafter Makar Sankranti on January 14, 2019.

In case the announcements have already been made before this date, it is clarified the eligibility of the new quota will be applicable only for which the announcement has been made but the process has not yet begun. In such cases, the ongoing process will be suspended for the time being and fresh process will begin after incorporating the 10 per cent additional quota.

It is pertinent to mention here that the benefits of the fresh quota will not be applicable for whichthe process had begun before January 14, 2019, like for which the process of written, oral, computer proficiency or preliminary tests have already been conducted.

This 10 per cent quota for the economically weaker class from the general category will be over and above the existing 49 per cent quota for SC/ST/SEBC.

The Gujarat Chief Minister is the first to implement Prime Minister Narendra Modi Government’s historic and unprecedented revolutionary decision to implement this 10 per cent reservation.

The Centre had taken this decision under Article 46 of Guiding Principles of Constitution of India after Amendment of the Articles 15 and 16, incorporating 10 per cent reservation for Economically Weaker Sections. It extends Constitutional powers to the States to implement fresh reservation.

Girnar Shivratri Kumbh Mela-2019

The state government has allocated a sum of Rs.15 crores for celebrating Shivratri through the Girnar Shivratri Kumbh Mela-2019 from 27th February, 2019 to 4th March, 2019. Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupani headed a high level meeting in Gandhinagar to talk about the various arrangements for the festival. ‘The theme for the festival will be social harmony’, said the CM.  The state government will organise Cleanliness Drive, cleaning of ponds and rivers, marathon, spiritual walk, mountaineering and many other activities with the co-operation of voluntary organisations.

Mr. Rupani insisted on celebrating this Kumbh Mela on the lines of the Kumbh Mela which is held at Prayagraj. He guided the officials and suggested them insights for celebrating this festival on a bigger scale. The CM has sent a team of officials at Prayagraj for better insights. He instructed the officials and laid a great emphasis on maintaining cleanliness during the fest and talked about decorating government buildings with LED lights and pictures related to Kumbh Mela. He also talked of arranging bus facilities in order to ensure ease of transport for people.
A laser show will be organised at the Girnar hill along with a rangoli. In addition to that, the CM also instructed on consulting the revered Vishvambhar Bharti Bapu and Shernath Bapu for the fest.
Minister of State for Yatradham Vikas Board Mrs. Vibhavariben Dave, Chief Principal Secretary to the CM Mr. K. Kailashnathan, Principal Secretary Mr. M.K Das and various other officials of the government were present during the meeting.

CM launches various developmental works at Rajkot
Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupani visited Rajkot today to launch a number of developmental projects. Mr. Rupani dedicated a police station at Hadmatala built at a cost of Rs.35 lakhs and announced the approval of a gas pipeline that will reach till this place. The CM also dedicated an ambulance on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, the CM expressed with utmost pride and happiness that Gujarat has been on a fast track development since the last 15 years and assured that people to work dedicatedly for better days to come. He talked about zero tolerance towards crimes, better opportunities for industries, farmers and the people.

Mr. Rupani also talked about the desalination plants that will be set up in Gujarat to solve the problem of potable water for people in water scarce regions.

The CM handed over appointment letters to 5 apprentices and accepted a cheque worth Rs.1, 51, 000 as a part of the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. The amount was given by the Workers’ Association of Hadmatala. In addition to that, the CM honoured four children from Gondal who were winners in an International competition.

Mr. Rupani showed a firm resolve to augment the Foreign Trade in the state with the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Global Business Summit 2019 which is going to be held from 18th to 20th January, 2019 at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar

Prime Minister dedicates Rs.750-cr Sardar Patel Institute of Medical Science & Research

Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi dedicated the 1,500-bed world-class environment-friendly Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (SVP) Institute of Medical Science & Research built by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) at a cost of Rs.750-crore here today.

Speaking on the occasion, he wished this super-specialty hospitalwould provide better medical facilities for the people of Gujarat, It wouldbecome a model for government hospitals in the country. He recalled that Sardar Patel who was a Mayor of Ahmedabad himself was protagonist of cleanliness and public health.

Mr. Modi said the nearly seven lakh poor and middle class patients have been treated free-of-cost under the newly launched Ayushman Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna during the last 100 day, bearing a cost of Rs.10,000 per patient daily, saving the poor and needy from being heavily in debt. SVP is linked to the Ayushman Yojna. This Yojna has encouraged many to start hospitals in smaller towns also.

He said that the Central Government has undertaken several steps to strengthen the healthcare, like permitting more hospitals and medical colleges, increasing number of MBBS seats by 18,000 and Postgraduate Courses by 13,000.

Mr. Modi said that 10 per cent reservation for Unreserved Economically Weaker Sections reflects the Central Government’s will and determination for social equanimity. Gujarat is the first state to implement the quota. It will benefit students in 40,000 colleges in 900 universities. It has been ensued that fresh quota doesn’t rob the chances of sections of the society already benefitting from reservation.

Thanking Prime Minister for allocating the AIMS to Gujarat, Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani categorically stated that the state government is determined to follow his foot-marks to avail “health security” to the poorest among poor person.
Mr. Rupani also recalled that when Mr. Modi was chief minister of Gujarat, he had initiated the “Ma Amrutam” and “Ma Vatsalya” health schemes with keeping the poor man in the centre. Now, the Prime Minister has initiated ‘The Ayushman Bharat Scheme’ to extend health benefits to billions of Indians. Gujarat is implementing the same at a rapid speed.
The Chief Minister further stated that Mr. Modi had a vision to make Ahmedabad a world class city. The newer version of V. S. Hospital has added a new feather into it.
Giving full credit to the Prime Minister, the Chief Minister said that vertical growth of Gujarat was due to ‘Vibrant Summit’ series initiated by Mr. Modi when he was the chief minister of Gujarat.
While, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Nitinbhai Patel stated that ‘River Front’ project in Ahmedabad city was a priceless gift from Mr. Modi.
Earlier, the Prime Minister had reviewed health facilities made available at the SVP Hospital. He was apprised about the available medical facilities by Municipal Commissioner Mr. Vijay Nehra.
The occasion was also graced by Revenue Minister Mr. Kaushikbhai Patel, MLAs, Mayor Bijalben Patel, Chief Secretary Mr. J. N. Singh, and others.
Prime Minsiter Mr. Narendra Modi inaugurates Vibrant Gujarat Global Trade Show 2019

Prime Minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi inaugurated country’s largest trade show The Vibrant Gujarat Global Trade Show 2019 in the presence of the Chief Minister of Gujarat Mr. Vijay Rupani and Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Nitin Patel. The PM also visited the Make In India and various public sector pavilions later.

Various ministers and foreign dignitaries such as the Minister of Industries and Finance from Morocco, Minister of Finance, Small Business and Investment of Republic of Malta, Minister of Finance from Japan etc. accompanied Mr. Modi during the event.

The PM had a brief interaction with CEOs and industrialists of various national and international companies at the ‘Automobile, E-vehcile, banking and finance’ pavilion. A number of international stalls of companies such as Maruti Suzuki, Honda, JETRO etc were in this pavilion.

Prime Minister Mr. Modi along with Mr. Rupani and Mr. Nitin Patel visited the Africa pavilion at the Trade Show-2019. It is to be noted here that the pavilion was spread in an area of 2200 sq. mtrs. and included as many as 32 nations of the African continent. The pavilion had a special showcase of Gandhiji’s prison sentence in Africa.
It is to be noted here that the Africa Day is going to be celebrated on the second day i.e the 19th January, 2019 of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Business Summit 2019.

The event was attended by various minsters of the state government, President of Reliance Group Mr. Parimal Nathwani, Chairman of Arvind Limited Mr. Sanjay Lalbhai, Chief Secretary Dr. J.N Singh, and Chief Principal Secretary to CM Mr. K. Kailashnathan, officials from Prime Minister’s office and a number of senior dignitaries.
